Balance
Simplicity is not the absence of complexity.
Every serious digital product is complex. The real question is: who carries that complexity — the system or the person?
Try changing the balance.
Examples
Current balance
The system and the person share the complexity. Context defines the line.
What changes in the product
- 01Capability
- Capabilities cover the primary journey. Secondary tools can appear only when context calls for them.
- 02Control
- People keep the important decisions while the system handles routine work. State and consequences stay visible.
- 03Automation
- Repeated steps are automated while exceptions remain visible. The system accelerates work without taking control away.

Compare two approaches
The same problem can require a different distribution of complexity.

The difference is not which option is “better”, but where the product keeps complexity.
There is no universal balance.
A good interface does not maximize simplicity, control or automation. It distributes complexity according to the task.
That is what design is for.
